How do you handle losing a bet(s)?
Main Post:
I remember reading an interview with a sharp bettor in Vegas. The guy said that one of the keys to his success is he knew how to take a loss. This is something I've always struggled with... when I take some losses I get furious and then go full degenerate and start putting a huge chunk of my bankroll on the line. How do you handle a losing night? Any suggestions on how to brush off some bad bets?
*So next time I take a bad loss I'm going to take incorporate everyone's advice and snort heroin, pump off, get high and drunk, root for the Lions (ugh...), get laid and exercise better bankroll management while taking an indifferent mathematical approach. In all seriousness though there are some awesome response here. Thank you fellow degenerates sports betting enthusiasts.

Unluckiest/most frustrated loss you've had in your life

I'm sure this has been done countless times on here but I need to feel some empathy after that Spurs -5.5 loss haha. Spurs up 18 with 2 minutes to go and they bring in their scrubs and the Kings go on a crazy garbage time run. San Antonio end up winning by 5 on a missed free throw to end it.
I'd say this is second most frustrating loss I've suffered (1st would be the replacement ref debacle) but I rarely bet on basketball so this might happen quite often
Title is self-explanatory, what has been your most frustrating L so far in your gambling career?
Top Comment: be me be a Ronda Rousey hater tell everyone she is overrated/unskilled and only dominates because of weak opponents tell people I could beat her up even though I don't trane UFC lose $100 dollars on a bet and don't like the way my bankroll looks sitting at $1900, $2000 looked so good hey, Ronda is fighting tonight, who's she fighting? who cares, she only fights cans and the line is -1000 puts $1000 on Ronda to win $100, surely this fight is a lock and will be over within 30 seconds find UFC stream and watch fight fight starts immediately know my money is gone, Ronda is 100% outclassed and is not a threat to Holm at all Ronda gets KTFO with a head kick, I slam my laptop shut and can't believe what I've just done, I was only going to make $100 I've lost way more money on a single bet but holy shit did that one sting, It took a while to recover from that bet, I was shaken for a couple weeks and it led to me losing my entire bankroll. It taught me the importance of bankroll management and the importance of peace of mind. Still though, Fuck Rousey.

Anyone Else Lose Everything in 1 Bet?

How often does this happen to you guys? You would start off with something small, say $30 dollars and then bet smart, winning a little bit several times in a row. You're on a roll, winning 9/10 bets. Then suddenly on the next bet, you end up losing everything you've won back?
This happened to me. I started with $30 and won close to 1k and then I lost it all back in one bet where the odds were -2000. Highly unlikely to have lost that one... And I thought I could make a living off betting smartly like this, where I only make bets where my choice is the heavy favorite (99% chance of winning).

Betting your entire bankroll on low odd heavy favorites isn't betting smartly.
I'm on a serious losing streak. Very demotivated. Thinking of quitting.

I got paid $100 on Tuesday. I thought I'd follow the Daily Picks thread wisely and maybe turn my $100 to $400 before New Years and get some cash to enjoy New Years holiday with my girlfriend but I'm now down to $17. My acca's this week all failed and today I lost $20 out of desperate betting and silly refereeing. I guess New Years won't be lit this year.
Damn. I feel like shit on shit.

Stop seeing it as a way of making money fast. It's not. Gambling should be fun. Once it starts to affect other things, STOP!!
What sports betting loss pissed you off the most and how much did you lose
Main Post:
For me, it has to be when the 76ers lost to the Raptors last year in Toronto. I had the 76ers ML and it seemed like a lock with the Raptors missing a few players but the 76ers didn't play too good and Joel Embid had a career low in points scored in that game. I thought the 76ers were going to win within the last minute but the Raptors caught the ball twice and won 101-96. That game cost me $500 lol.

How do you recover after a losing streak?
Main Post:
I've found that it's pretty hard to not chase losses. I never bet what I'm not willing to lose but it's hard to keep betting without comparing my winning to what I've lost. Do you ever take a week/month off and try to "reset" or do you just start the next day new. I know it's a stupid question and it can probably be solved by never betting more than 1-10% of my bank roll but I would love to hear others experiences and advice. I don't look at betting as more than a hobby that makes games more fun to watch, but it's hard to not to compare a good win to a bad loss I had 3 weeks ago etc. . I just graduated college and got my first "real" job so I'm trying to be somewhat responsible while still enjoying my now increased budget. Do you guys set a limit on what you'll put in your account in a given week/month. Also sorry to anyone that followed me on my Chiefs pick today. Ended up betting my entire bank roll and eating a big ass crow. Thanks!

Best Strategy to Overcome Huge Losses?
Main Post:
Welp, heres the deal I play on 1 to 5 Unit system and I have had the worst stretch of my life losing 50 Units in just 2.5 days !!! I would like to at least try to cut this in half so that I am not having to owe such a huge amount at weeks end. Do I try to make two 5unit bets per day and hope to get hot that way? or do I continue to go with 3-6 medium bets per day which got me in the massive hole? Anyone have any strategies or advice that has been in this situation before?
Thanks!

The answer is to stop gambling. The fact that you are asking this proves that point even further.
